Basic Internet Device
In the early days, computer system were bought for the purpose of running a business especially for Accounting Software. As time goes by, many uses it for Wordprocessing, database handling as well as business presentation using the most common software known as Microsoft Office. The requirement today has include communication on the Internet also known as a World Wide Web. Practically, the world's information is at your finger tips. It's like you own the largest library in the world and it's right inside your computer. Many people uses the computer to surf for information's, generate business, chit-chatting or emailing besides many other functions. You can never surf the web or internet if you do not have the basic internet device set up : 1. You need an Internet Account that your Local Service Provider will provides. 2. You need a Dialup or Digital Modem so that your Local ISP ( Internet Service Provider ) can link you to the World Wide Web. E.g. of a website that you might visit will be www.prawfeed-marketing.com or www.grisoft.com ( simple graphic or picture of a ADSL modem with a Computer ) What comes with your ISP Internet Account ? A. Your User ID and Password for you to log into the server B. Your ISP may even provide you with a generic email account that you can use for E.g. If your account is Singnet, your email account will be xyz@singnet.com.sg C. If there is an offer upon signing the Agreement, your ISP may also include an ADSL ( Digital ) Modem as part of your package. and What can you usually find on the ADSL Modem Package ? i. An ADSL Modem that could contain a Modem with Router which allow you to connect to a few more PCs. Some of these modem also come with Wireless Capability. ii. RJ45 or Internet Cable for your Modem and Motherboard LAN Port iii. A Noise Filter to filter noise while you are surfing iv. A Program CD so that you can install the Device Driver to the computer to enable it to work well with your PC system.
Usually, there is only 1 PC system that you can link directly to the modem however, there are times when you might even have a laptop which you intend to use simultaneously to surf the web. There is 2 ways to connect it to the modem : 1. Linking via another RJ45 cable to the extra slot behind the modem with your Laptop LAN Port 2. Linking Wirelessly using the Wireless ( Wifi ) Device that comes with your Laptop unit. ( Append any picture showing a Laptop linking wirelessly ) What's if you have another desktop PC system and you intend to surf using it too ? You can follow the same steps as above except that, the desktop PC may need to purchase a Wireless Adapter ( Wifi Adapter ) so that it can communicate wirelessly with the modem when configured. ( Append a picture of a Wifi Device that is stick to the USB port of a PC ) With all these device taken care of, you can be assured that you can surf until your hearts content.
