CD or DVD Drive

 

This is the component of the PC System that plays the CD or Software Program that you have inserted. For the older generation PC System, there is a high chance that your CD-ROM Drive can only play VCDs and reading of CDs that has a maximum capacity of 750MB of data.

The newer generation PC System comes with DVD-Writer that allows you to not only read or view CDs, VCD and even DVD but writes informations into these media as well.

What does a CD or DVD Drive actually do ?

1. Read and activate programs that was written onto it for a specific purposes.

2. Plays Audio or Movie CDs for your entertainment, meeting or seminar etc

3. For CDROM Drive with writing capability, writes information that you wish to backup into a CD or DVD for storage purposes. E.g. of commonly backup data are Microsoft Documents or Powerpoint files, PDF files, MP3 audio files or AVI Movie files, photos in JPEG or BMP mode.

4. Clone or Duplicate CDs with Informations that you wish so that you have more than 1 copy of it.

5. With new software capabilities, you can even create your own Audio or Movie CD.
